MGM National Harbor to be Presidential Sponsor of 2016 Taste of DC

Resort to Provide VIP Ticket Holders Sneak Peek of Culinary Offerings
 

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., (October 5, 2016) MGM National Harbor, the luxury casino resort opening December 8 in Prince George’s County, will be the Presidential Sponsor of Washington, D.C.’s  Taste of DC, the region’s largest food, beer and wine festival.

This annual, two-day culinary adventure, which attracts more than 50,000 attendees, takes place Saturday, October 8 from 1 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. along four city blocks on “America’s Main Street”, historic Pennsylvania Avenue, between 3rd  and 7th Streets, NW.
 
As the Presidential Sponsor, MGM National Harbor will offer an exclusive private festival entrance on 3rd Street for VIP Tastemaker and Tastemaker Plus ticket holders. Guests who have purchased a VIP ticket will be invited to experience specialty beverages and food demonstrations in MGM’s private area, including a specialty cocktail on each day. In the MGM tent, many of the resort's distinguished chefs will provide sneak peek samples of the types of culinary delights visitors will experience when the property opens. Participating chefs/restaurants include:
 
  • Saturday, Oct. 8Marcus Samuelsson’s restaurant MARCUS, offering breakfast, lunch  and dinner, will debut elegant comfort food. Additionally, Frederick, Md. native Bryan Voltaggio and team will introduce items from his regionally influenced Voltaggio Brothers Steak House – his first joint venture with his brother Michael.
 
  • Sunday, Oct. 9 - Award-winning Spanish American Chef José Andrés’ team will premiere dishes from his seafood concept, FISH and chefs from Ginger, the resort’s authentic Pan Asian restaurant will present Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Korean selections.
 
Between demonstrations, chefs from National Market, a food market dining experience with 10 distinct concepts and TAP will be featuring signature items served from the MGM National Harbor food truck. Executive Chef Jason Johnston will be on-hand each day to showcase a mozzarella and porchetta tasting on the main demonstration stage. Guests who sign up to receive MGM Resort’s M life newsletter will receive a delicious treat from Bellagio Patisserie, a European-inspired pastry shop offering house-made sweets, Danishes, pastries, gelato, coffee drinks and retail items.

Taste of DC is a multi-day culinary and cultural event in the heart of the Nation’s Capital. This expansive festival packs Pennsylvania Avenue with more than 60 area restaurants, great drinks, and lively entertainment including 35 musical acts and a variety of culinary demonstrations. For the sixth year, Taste of DC will feature the Ben’s Chili Bowl World Chili Eating Championship on Saturday, October 8.
