Born in Egypt, I escaped to France and then came to the USA. I traveled to 27 countries and
35 states in America. Wherever I lived and traveled, I was constantly exposed to the arts,
nature and colors. I enjoy exploring and experimenting with a variety of visual techniques to
bring new expressions to my art.
I brought the art of painting on silk to America from France in 1978 and launched a non-profit
organization, SPIN, to promote the art form which includes a newsletter “The Silkworm”.
Painting on silk has now penetrated the world wide art field with over 5000 participants on
Facebook plus SPIN and other organizations.
I am heavily involved in teaching and demonstrating painting on silk to bring the joy of the art
form to one and all. “Even if you never picked up a brush I can teach you to quickly and easily
paint on silk.”
With Jan Janas, a master silk painter, I co-authored three books on this subject. Our fourth
one is currently at the publisher. I currently exhibit as a silk artist, photographer and some of my photographs are printed on silk.
At the current Artomatic show at Potomac Park with 380 artists, I was selected by the art critic
Lenny Campello in the 10 Best list of the show as the Master Fiber Artist.
I sell my works and accept commissions. MGM purchased four of my pieces to be displayed
at the National Harbor Casino to be opened December, 2016.
